In partnership with the City of Natchitoches, we are proud to recognize Richardson Park as a Pelican Playgrounds’ Limitless Play Space. This distinction is given to playgrounds that follow best practices in design, inclusion, and accessibility, and support community health and well-being.
The City of Natchitoches was awarded a Love Louisiana Outdoors grant to make substantial improvements to Frederick M. Richardson Park in the Jackson Square neighborhood of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Residents rely on the park for exercise, recreation, and community building. Prior to the improvement project, neither of the two playgrounds in the park were inclusive or ADA-compliant.
The City of Natchitoches worked with Pelican Playgrounds to build and install a new inclusive playground. The total playground area is just under 3,500 square feet and is intended for children ages 5-12. The playground features a variety of inclusive playground equipment from Playworld and Independence Design Group, including an Accessible Whirl, a Tower Climber, and arch swing set with ADA-accessible seats.
We commend the City of Natchitoches for prioritizing accessibility and inclusive play for local residents who depend on Richardson Park!
