Coming Soon: Park of Heroes Playground
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: we’ve officially broken ground on Park of Heroes Playground in partnership with the City of Harahan!
This nearly 9,000-square-foot inclusive and multigenerational playground is going to be one of the most special projects we’ve built yet. It’s planned to open in fall 2026 at 6601 10th St in Harahan, LA.
This project adds another gem to the growing collection of Louisiana inclusive playgrounds we’ve had the honor of installing in Jefferson Parish, including Royland Playground.

Many Years In The Making
Councilman Jason Asbill has been dreaming about this playground for eight years, ever since he campaigned on a promise to build the most inclusive playground Harahan had ever seen. Watching that vision come to life at the groundbreaking was a special moment after years of planning, partnerships, and perseverance.
Once it’s finished, Park of Heroes Playground will be able to hold more than 136 kids and adults at a time. We worked closely with Let Kids Play, a national inclusive play design consultancy, to make sure every inch of the design meets the highest inclusion standards out there.
What We're Building At Park of Heroes Playground
For us, inclusion is about a lot more than ramps and surfacing. It’s about creating a joyful space where kids and adults of every ability can play side by side. That’s exactly what we set out to do here.
Here’s a look at what’s coming to Park of Heroes:
- Mighty Descent slide, an 8-foot-tall slide big enough for multiple kids and adults at once
- The Memo, an interactive learning installation with seven touchscreen pillars packed with educational games
- Accessible Whirl, so two wheelchair users can spin together
- Aeroglider, letting a child roll on in a wheelchair and glide back and forth with the group
- Cozy Cocoons, quiet sensory spaces for kids who need a breather before jumping back in
- Accessible See-Saw, built for easy transfers so everyone can ride together
- A custom tank-themed climbing structure by Cre8Play, a one-of-a-kind tribute to the park’s history as a memorial to Harahan service members
- A six-seat swing set with two accessible seats
- Integrated shade coverings and playground turf safety surfacing throughout the whole site
- Fully fenced in
Park of Heroes will also feature wide, wheelchair-accessible ramps connecting all the play decks, plus a dedicated open play area and a shaded pavilion where families can hang out together.

Jefferson Parish Leads In Inclusive & Interactive Playgrounds
Park of Heroes isn’t Harahan’s first inclusive playground, and we don’t think it’ll be the last.
We built Royland Playground with local volunteers back in October 2025, and it’s still going strong with its Sona Interactive Dance and Play Arch.
Nearby, the Kenner Planetarium and Space Science Complex has its own Luna Interactive Play Spot using sensor tech to get kids moving. Park of Heroes joins that lineup, giving local families yet another place to play together.
Made Possible By Partnership
This project came together thanks to state appropriations and in-kind support from Chatelain Services, LLC, Wood Resources, LLC, and the Harahan Athletic Association. Equipment and installation were purchased through our Louisiana state purchasing contract.
State Representative John Illg, who pushed hard for the state funding behind this project, said supporting Harahan’s vision was an easy call because it’s exactly the kind of project state partnerships should make possible.
